CAREGIVER SUPPORT SERVICES

Caring for a loved one can be rewarding but it can also be difficult and frustrating at times. Many caregivers may not know where to turn for help. The Council provides support, assistance and information to people caring for persons 60 years of age or older as well as to people age 60 and older who are the primary caregivers for children under the age of 18.

The types of help we offer includes:

  • Assistance to assess needs and identify options
  • Information about community resources and local programs
  • Accessing respite care
  • Caregiver lending library
  • Caregiver newsletter

Contact the Senior HelpLine: 786-5991 or 1-800-642-5119 for more more information. You can also ask to have your name added to our mailing list to make sure that you receive information about upcoming Caregiver Workshops and/or Conferences.

How to build a caregiving team: Step one is to talk with family. The next step is to identify needs. The third step is to enlist a trusted family member or friend to serve as a coordinator. Step four is to be ready to accept help. Number five is to be creative in defining your team. Step six is to communicate changes. Number seven is to consider using technology to be more efficient and step eight is to remember to express gratitude to each other on a regular basis.
